Fitness……There’s an app for that! There are actually several applications on your smartphone that can help you reach your health and fitness goals. Here are a few of my favorites.

Fitday Mobile

This application goes with the website www.fitday.com. I am a big fan of both the website and the app. Fitday is the best way to track your nutrition. Create a free profile to see an estimate of how many calories you should be consuming a day. Then enter in your meals as the day goes on.
Fitday stores your recently added foods to make tracking easier. The best feature is the pie chart on the bottom of the food page that tells you where your calories are coming from. In general for weight loss and maintenance you want your percentages to be 40% calories from Carbohydrate, 30% from Fat and 30% from Protein. This app will keep you honest about your calorie consumption.

Pop Sugar

Within this app is a section called Fit Sugar. Fit Sugar has loads of free useful information on health and fitness. This app has frequently updated blogs on nutrition, exercise, motivation and fitness gear. Check out Fit Sugar for new recipes, work-outs and other ways to get into your best state of health.

Good Food Near You

This application is great for those of you that eat out frequently. Good Food Near You will find your location and provide you with healthy options in surrounding restaurants. This app provides the nutrition facts on hundreds of menu items around you. You’ll never have to play the calorie guessing game again with your meals and it’s free!

Pandora and I Heart Radio

Most people like to work-out to music, however it’s very easy to get sick of the songs stored on your phone. Pandora and I Heart Radio are great solutions for that. There are tons of stations on both of these apps to get you through your toughest work out. If you hear a song you really like you can always download it later. Use these music sources to make your session fly by.

You Tube

Not just for humiliating videos anymore. There are tons of instructional clips on this popular app. Many coaches and trainers post specific exercises or complete work-outs here. Learn the proper technique on difficult exercises or try a new work-out with this application. There are a few fitness apps that provide instructional videos, you tube is the only one where you can check out clips from many different trainers. Having a variety of coaches will only benefit your understanding of the workout you’re trying to master.

Take support where ever you can find it. These days it’s everywhere, even on your phone.
